Actually really, really nice
“UK promoters dollop announce Julio Bashmore as headline DJ for their inaugural London NYE party.”
Following on from summer’s revered ‘Detroit Series’, which saw legendary Motor City techno pioneers The Belleville Three return to the capital to play alongside contemporary protégés such as Boddika, Factory Floor and Simian Mobile Disco, dollop set their sights on grander things in 2013 by capping off their most successful year yet with a suitably enormous New Year’s Eve blow-out, and if the first act confirmed is enough to go by, it’s going to be one hell of a celebration.
Julio Bashmore has experienced a remarkable rise to prominence, elevating from blogger favourite to mainstream breakthrough in little under two years, and deservedly so. Alongside last year’s bona fide club anthem ‘Battle For Middle You’ and this summer’s ubiquitous smash ‘Au Seve’, Bashmore also holds down a Radio 1 show, runs new imprint Broadwalk Records and has contributed production to Jessie Ware’s Mercury-nominated, top 5 album ‘Devotion’. Suffice to say, he is one of the UK’s most sought-after producers and it represents a major coup for dollop to secure him as headliner.
Moving on from the Detroit Series’ warehouse location, the venue lined up is an established East London gem, renowned for its excellent acoustics and affording the kind of size that will act as a perfect platform to reestablish dollop as one of London’s most exciting and creative-minded brands, within the scope of electronic music and beyond. The venue will remain a secret for the time being, while the line-up will be released over the coming weeks. As well as Bashmore heading up proceedings, the line-up will bring some of the country’s most beloved and incendiary DJs together to close out the year in style. Keep your eyes firmly on the prize as dollop ring in the new year with a bang.
